United By Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church Grant Fund

The UBF Congregation Council has adopted the following rules of procedure for the UBF Grant Fund:

1. Recipients are to be determined by the Finance Committee.

2. Recommendations for grants for specific religious educational programs may be made by the Pastor, the Chairperson from Christian Education, the Youth Leader, or by the Admissions Officer from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago.

3. Members of United By Faith should be given first consideration.

4. Applicants or nominees shall make a financial statement of resources and needs for the examination of the Finance Committee on a form provided by the committee as well as answer other relevant questions. The Committee shall consider this information confidential. Whenever possible, the candidate shall be interviewed by the Committee and the pastor before a grant is awarded.

5. Annual funding from this Grant is not to exceed $1,500 total for all requests. Deadline for applications will be April 1 of each year. Recipients will be notified by May 1, and funds will be paid out when needed.

6. Financial aid shall be granted on an annual basis in most cases, but may include grants or emergency loans at other times.

7. The Finance Committee shall report to the Congregation Council any grants awarded and shall make an annual report to the congregation.

8. This fund shall be held in UBF's money market account in order to accrue interest and two special Sundays annually will be set aside - one in Fall and one in Spring - to accept special offerings for the on-going continuation of this fund. Designated gifts/memorials will be accepted at any time.
